Awesome Costume Ideas for Teachers!

Happy (soon to be) Halloween teachers! What are you going to be for Halloween this year? Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and I seriously look forward to carefully picking out my school costume.

Throughout the years, I have been Fancy Nancy, Mary Poppins, a witch, Olive Oyl from Popeye, and Junie B. Jones. Junie B. Jones was during my first year of teaching. I was honestly so excited about this costume. Grade level appropriate as a 5th grade teacher? Probably not, but I didn't care!

Can you find little ol' me in there? Yes, I know. I looked like one of the kids. ;) This was many years ago! I wish I had a better picture so you could see my whole outfit! I am so bad at taking pictures of myself, I swear! I searched for pictures of all of my other costumes, and I couldn't find any.

I must say though, picking out a school appropriate costume that my students will understand, can be difficult and often requires a little work!

So, to make it easy for you all, I decided to create a Pinterest board titled Creative Halloween Costumes for Teachers!

Since we are all so busy, I thought I would help my fellow teacher friends out and do all the thinking for you! I currently have over 100 EASY costume ideas pinned onto this board. All you have to do is follow the board and scroll through the ideas! See below on how to follow this Creative Halloween Costumes for Teachers board, and all of my other teaching boards too!

Halloween Math Centers and Activities Pack!

Happy Monday blog world! A teacher's favorite day of the week right?! UGH!

I'm here to spread a little happiness on this Monday afternoon by sharing my latest Halloween Math Centers and Activities Pack with you all!

Creating these holiday packs seriously make me happy inside! Don't get me wrong, I love creating those 400+ page ELA Assessments, but this is a nice break! Not to mention, I love these in my own classroom. It is such a busy time of the year, and with our state testing upon us, it feels a little crazier. So a fun holiday pack seems just right! :)

I want to quickly share all of the great stuff you can find in this pack, so that we can get to the fun stuff: the giveaway!! Make sure you scroll all the way to the bottom of the post to enter the giveaway!

Each page in this Halloween Math Pack can be used as a center activity, an independent activity, during math workshop, on a holiday party day, or even to supplement some of your current math units! The best part is that I have included answer keys and directions in student language, so you can print and go!

My students' all time favorite activities are the "Color by Number" activities found in all of my holiday packs. They seriously ask for more each time they finish a new one!

In this pack I have included 3 different "Color by Number" activities. The first is a Color by Difference activity in which students subtract multi-digit numbers across zeros in order to color in the picture.

The last two are Color by Rounding activities. The first Color by Rounding has students rounding multi-digit whole numbers to any place, and the second has students rounding decimals up to the hundredths.

The next activity is called Arachnid Angles, and students have to find the missing angle measurements in 90 degree and 180 degree angles. The catch is that the angles are spider webs!

My students may think I am the biggest cheese-ball, but these spider web angles seriously excite me!

Next are the line plot activities called Petrifying Plots. Line plots are always a tough thing for my students, so any additional practice creating and using line plots helps.

Another activity I am super excited about is the Greatest Common Trickster activity in which students need to find the greatest common factors of numbers. How cute are these little Halloween trick-or-treaters?

There are honestly so many fun activities in this pack! And guess what...these aren't even all of them! Check out some images of the preview below, or click here to see more information on this pack! Scroll to the bottom of this page to check out my giveaway!!

I want to give this pack away to 5 lucky teachers! All you have to do is leave me a comment about your favorite Halloween party day idea with your students, and leave your email with your comment! The first 5 comments win! For those that don't win, I have the product on sale for you 15% off tonight only! Hurry the sale ends at midnight! Happy Halloween!

For those of you that may not be able to celebrate Halloween, don't forget to check out my other fall products! Click here to check out one of them!

Currently October!

Happy October friends! Goodness where is the time going? I'm linking up with Farley to celebrate the new month!

For those of you that follow me on Instagram, you've gotten a little taste of my fall decor!

And as for wedding planning goes, I have the most amazing planner EVER, yet my crazy OCD ways cause me to do this...

Doesn't everyone make photo collages for each decision, and use color coordinated sticky notes to keep it all organized? Confession: this was some what requested by my fiancĂ© due to the fact that the stream of information coming at him was overwhelming. He kindly asked for the information to be a little less overwhelming, to which I did the above. See ladies, they do appreciate our teacher-like ways even at home!

Last but not least, I must say I am super proud of myself because I have 3 big products in the hopper that I'm about to put out. One of them is my 6th Grade Math Assessments (thank you for being so patient 6th grade teachers).

The second is my 3rd Grade Teacher Data Tracking and Grade Book that you sweet 3rd grade teachers requested! Don't worry 3rd grade teachers, I'm still working on ELA Assessments too!

The last product I'm working SUPER hard to finish for you is my Halloween Math Pack! Once it's out I will be giving away 5 free packs to 5 lucky teachers! Check back for details on the giveaway soon!

Head on over to Farley's blog to link up! Happy Hump Day!

Our little ghouls and goblins are going to be extra sugar'd up and just full of life (that is if yours haven't been full of life already!) :) You could always do what I do and ask VERY sweetly for them to scour their neighborhoods and bring you back all the Resee's Peanut Butter Cups they can find ;)

They really took that request seriously last year. There was more where this came from, and they had one happy teacher. Bless their little hearts!! ;)

We will be finishing up our last coordinate mystery picture with these Halloween Coordinate Graphing Ordered Pairs {Mystery Pictures}:

Click HERE to check them out in my store, or check out this blog post for more picture HERE!

Tomorrow, we are finishing up our unit on decimals and we will be doing a quick, fun review game with these Writing Decimals Task Cards and Memory Matching Games:

We are starting our persuasive unit next week, and I need to gauge my students to see what they have learned in previous years.....so I am going to bring out the fun prompt cards to pass around during write to self time!

See more info on my blog post HERE!

Anyone else feel like Halloween crept up on them?! What are you being for Halloween this year? Last year I was Ms. Poppins herself, and my costume was influenced by this awesome picture:

Writing Workshop JACKPOT and FREEBIE!!

Before I jump into my "Writing Workshop Jackpot" ...I want to talk about my latest Halloween creation!

The holidays are fast-approaching my friends, and we all know that for the teachers in the world, holidays don't mean fun office parties and sophisticated gift exchanges. To a teacher the holidays mean 30+ kids hopped up on all types of sugary goodness and costume parades with costumes that you have to help zip, tie, buckle, and button. Those beautiful classrooms that you teach your children to treat like their homes?? That's funny! Most years I can't even see the floor after our holiday fun!

I learned very quickly that when it comes time for the holiday festivities, if you can't beat 'em JOIN 'EM!!! Let's not forget the days leading up to and after a holiday as well. I mean, could you fight through a candy coma?

This year I can't wait to tie in our Common Core persuasive writing with Halloween!! I typically spiral my writing all year long, as I fit many of my Common Core writing standards into other subjects like science and social studies, but the holidays are the BEST time for writing.

We are finishing up our narrative writing unit (see below), and we are going to quickly move into writing to persuade Halloween style! I have created this activity seen below and you can learn more about it HERE.

In this activity I made some super cute posters that will hang in our room that teach my students the persuasive techniques of ethos, pathos, logos, bandwagon, testimonial, and slogan!

Each poster is in a Halloween theme to add to my super cute sparkly pumpkins I scored from the Target dollar spot last week!!

I've also included 6 prompts that can be printed on colorful posters or on small strips to pass out to students, planning graphic organizers, clip art to dress up your Halloween hallway or classroom display and more!!

Here is a quick look at the black and white paper version of the publishing pages with the adorable Halloween themed clipart that is included:

Fun scrapbook style colored publishing paper is included too!! I may try to print the colored paper at home because they make the display look so much more festive!

Take a look below at some of the awesome things included in this pack, I can't wait to start this next week!!!!

Don't forget about my 2 Halloween math products too!

Writing Decimals Task Cards and Memory Matching Game {Halloween Themed}

Since we are in the writing spirit, I wanted to share a freebie, and the source of the freebie with you all.

I posted a picture of an anchor chart I made in my last post found HERE. I finally got around to uploading it and wanted to give it to my (few) fabulous readers as a freebie!! My kids struggle so much with writing GIANT disconnected stories vs. small seed moment stories, so we spent a lot of time on this concept. I posted these writing workshop posters up in our room, and printed them off for students' writing folders.

The content of my posters comes from THIS WEBSITE. Click the link to check it out!

When I found this website a few years back, I felt like I had hit the jackpot. I'm sure everyone knows about this website because it has been pinned all over Pinterest, but if you haven't you better go check it out!! It is AMAZING with writing units GALORE! Writing can be tough to teach because it is not so black and white, and my kids are always so different in terms of their writing each year. So, the more ideas I can add to my collection, the better!!

Grab this freebie by clicking HERE or the picture below!

To check out some of the incredible writing lessons from the website above, follow my pictures below.

When you go to this district's main site, you have options to explore literacy or math. I'll walk you through the website to get you to the awesome literacy resources!

Once you click the literacy option, at the bottom of the page you will see buttons that will take you to the website's different resources. Click on Writer's Workshop button to explore the writing goodies.

You can also click your grade level's year long trajectory. This is a loose curriculum map created by this district.

The best resource on this page (in my opinion!) is the sample units by grade levels!! Click your grade level button...
