First Days Back!

Welcome back everyone!! For those of you that have been back since August, go ahead and do an eye roll at us post-Labor Day starters ;)!

I don't know about you, but around here we've been doing a lot of this...

Look at that straight line!! WOOT WOOT! I promise that didn't happen with a wiggle of my nose. 'Lots of modeling and practicing.

We've also been doing a lot of this...

I assure you we have only got to number 6. We had only got to number 3 by this morning, but we made some great progress today, and are officially about half way through practicing our morning routine.

Now, I do understand that everyone has a different philosophy on what works for them, and perhaps some would say that I am a little "overzealous" when it comes to teaching these procedures and routines, but my friends, BRING IT ON!!!  You can click HERE to grab my Classroom Procedures to Teach {Back to School Classroom Management Tool}

Do you want to start your day with chaos and screaming and "Miss Nannini I left my snack in my locker", "Miss Nannini I forgot a pencil", "Miss Nannini my homework is in my backpack". UMMM!?!! No thank you! So we have been slowly going through every single procedure that I have listed in this document....

...that you can find more information about HERE!!

Of course we have to break up the good ol' time of practicing procedures, and HAVE SOME FUN!!!  We've been doing a ton of the team building that from my Beginning of the Year Team Building Activities

...that you can find more information about HERE!!

Here are my students playing one of my favorites, round 1 of the Name Juggle!

We've only been back for a day, and due to class lists changing by the minute, I really want to wait until at least day 2 to start any big activities! I always feel so bad if a new student comes and misses out. But, between back to school assemblies, classroom compacts, procedures, and team building activities to build a community in our classroom, we have been busy!

How did all of your first days of school go!?

P.S.- I wanted to give a quick update to my lower-el readers. I was a little apprehensive about doing this, but due to MANY kind emails, I have started the 2nd Grade Standards Based Assessments that go with the Student Data Tracking Binders for 2nd Grade Common Core Math!!

I was apprehensive (because I am obviously an upper-el experienced teacher) until I thought about ALL of the modified tests and assignments I have made for my kids in the past. After I thought about it, I realized that I have already used the majority of these assessment contents in my classroom over the years when I modify for those students that need it!!

I am pretty excited that I forced myself to do this because I already know that I will use these in my own classroom this year too. I have at least two special ed. students that are testing at a 2nd grade math level. These assessments will be wonderful for those students when it comes to modifying and accommodating for them in our classroom, as I always want them to feel as successful as they can. Plus they look identical to the other grade level assessments in terms of the way they are set up, so these students won't feel funny that their paper looks "different".  Check them out by clicking HERE or the picture above!!
